The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has confirmed that at least 11 people sustained varying degrees of injury following multiple accidents along the Interchange section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning.
According to TRACE spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the incident occurred around 7:30 am when a Mazda bus collided with a truck attempting to maneuver into the premises of a private company. A Toyota Hiace bus, following closely behind, lost control and crashed into the two vehicles.
A second serious accident occurred at Cway Junction, a few meters after the Heyden filling station, when a Mack truck collided with an 18-seater passenger bus.
A witness reported that the Mazda bus was speeding, and its driver’s impatience contributed to the crash, which caused the Toyota Hiace bus to lose control upon sighting the accident ahead.
In total, 21 people were involved in the crashes, including 12 adult males and 9 adult females. Of these, 11 individuals, comprising 8 males and 3 females, sustained injuries. They were taken to Idera Hospital in Shagamu by the Federal Road Safety Corps for treatment.
