“13 Kidnap Victims Rescued in Kwara State After Gun Battle with Kidnappers”
The Kwara State Police Command has rescued 13 individuals abducted by armed assailants on their way to a wedding in Kogi State, following a dramatic gun battle in the Idofin-Igbana area of Oke-Ero LGA. The rescue operation, which took place on December 21, 2024, was a joint effort involving the police and local security personnel.
The victims, including men and women from various parts of Kwara, Oyo, and Kogi States, were abducted by a gang of six kidnappers who had disguised themselves in military uniforms. Acting on a distress call, the police mobilized quickly, using credible intelligence provided by local informants to locate the kidnappers’ hideout. When the kidnappers spotted the security forces, a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, ultimately forcing the suspects to flee after suffering injuries.
Two victims sustained gunshot injuries but received prompt medical attention at a nearby hospital and were later released to their families. CP Victor Olaiya of the Kwara State Police Command praised the quick thinking and bravery of the officers and local security personnel and thanked the local community for their cooperation in providing vital information.
