144 Kidnapped, 24 Killed as Terror Sweeps Zamfara Communities
Zamfara State has been rocked by another wave of violence, with 15 villages attacked between August 4 and 10, 2025, leaving a trail of death, abductions, and fear.
A situational report from the Zamfara Circle Community Initiative revealed that 144 residents were kidnapped, 24 killed, and 16 injured during coordinated strikes by armed groups across multiple local government areas.
In Bakura LGA, the communities of Sabe, Tungar Yamma, Sauru, Lambasu, Dogon Madacci, Dankalgo, and Kwanar Kalgo came under siege.
In Tsafe LGA, bandits struck Chediya, Kucheri, Yankuzo, and Katangar Gabas Bilbils, while Mafara LGA recorded attacks in Tabkin Rama, Matsafa, and Ruwan Gizo.
The violence also reached Rafin Jema in Gummi LGA, as well as Adabka and Masu in Bukkuyum LGA, further stretching the capacity of local security forces.
The Zamfara Circle Community Initiative warned that the relentless onslaught underscores the urgent need for stronger protection for rural communities, which remain dangerously exposed to armed groups operating with alarming impunity.
