2025: Umahi Assures South-East of Strong Focus on Security, Urges Support for Tinubu
The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has assured the people of the South-East geopolitical zone that the year 2025 will be crucial in addressing the security challenges that have plagued the region in recent years.
Umahi made the pledge during a visit by the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum to his country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, on Friday. The visit was part of the festive celebrations marking the yuletide season.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, Umahi acknowledged the significant progress made under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Tinubu. He emphasized the unprecedented dividends of democracy that the South-East has begun to experience under the current government, citing infrastructural development and increased attention to regional needs.
“I strongly believe that 2025 will be a pivotal year for our region, particularly in addressing the security concerns that have affected us for too long. Our focus is to ensure that South-East Nigeria enjoys the peace and stability it deserves,” Umahi declared.
He also called for continued support for the administration of President Tinubu, encouraging the people of the South-East to align with the central government to secure more opportunities for the region. “We must always be grateful to God and to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said. “The Igbo people and the South-East are now on the right track. We have learned to talk less and to understand that the centre belongs to all of us. It is time to support the government at the centre.”
Umahi further praised the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, highlighting his efforts to promote peace, security, and stability across the state. The Minister commended Nwifuru for his commitment to governance and called on the youth of the region to advocate for peace, fairness, and equity in all their endeavors.
“I urge the youths of Ebonyi and the South-East to continue working towards the peace and prosperity of our region. Let us focus on the greater good of our people, fostering an atmosphere of unity, and ensuring that we contribute positively to the development of our state and country,” Umahi added.
With 2025 just around the corner, the Minister’s statements reflect a strong belief in the transformative potential of regional cooperation, security initiatives, and government support in creating a more peaceful and prosperous South-East.
