Alhaji Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at Hadejia Jama’are River Basin, has strongly responded to the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), dismissing their political influence and insisting that they cannot prevent President Bola Tinubu from securing a dominant victory in the northern parts of Nigeria in 2027.
Supporting the position of APC National Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, who believes that the North should hold off on reclaiming power until 2031, Kwankwaso declared that the ACF has no political weight to speak on behalf of the northern region.
Addressing the ACF directly, Kwankwaso remarked, “Many of you were in power for decades, but what have you done for the North that now qualifies you to speak for it? Nothing. You served only your personal interests, nothing more.”
Kwankwaso didn’t hold back in calling out ACF members, specifically targeting Solomon Dalung, who has been vocal in criticizing Tinubu and his administration. He asked, “Were you not silent after gaining power in Buhari’s government, despite your harsh criticism of misgovernance?” Kwankwaso also called out figures like Dalung, Najaatu Muhammad, and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, claiming they had little to show for their contributions to the region.
In his defense of Ganduje’s position, Kwankwaso emphasized that the northern region had already seen significant benefits from Tinubu’s government. He pointed to the establishment of the Northwest Commission, which has a funding allocation of over N600 billion, and the approval of N150 billion for the construction of metro rail lines in Kano City, as concrete examples of the president’s commitment to the region’s development.
“Tinubu’s performance for the North in just a few months surpasses that of many others,” Kwankwaso stated. “The entire northern Nigeria has become a project site with so many ongoing developments, all made possible by President Tinubu’s full support. More projects will come as he secures his power in 2027.”
Kwankwaso also praised Ganduje’s leadership within the APC, highlighting the party’s significant gains under his guidance, including defections from top members of rival parties. He noted that in Kano, the influence of Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, had greatly weakened the NNPP, with many former members joining the APC daily.
“These successes clearly show that it is only a matter of time before President Tinubu returns to power in 2027,” Kwankwaso concluded. “This has unsettled Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya supporters, who are now realizing they have no party to rely on.”
