6 Family Members Burnt To Death In Osun
Six family members, including a couple and four of their five children, lost their lives on Monday in a fire outbreak that occurred at Tijani Kabiru road, Akankan area, Ede North local government area of Osun State.
Osun State Fire Service Director Engr Olaniyi Ismaila Alimi confirmed the incident to newsmen through a statement made available by Fire Service Public Relations Officer Mr Adekunle Ibraheem.
Ibrahim stated that the headquarters of Osun Fire Service was informed of the incident via a distress call to their emergency number, 08030808254, at 3:21 a.m. A team from Ede Zonal Command proceeded to the scene, with a backup team joining them from Fire Service Headquarters, Abere.
The victims, Mr Tijani Kabiru, a Customs Officer from Oyo/Osun Command, who was reported to be in his late 40s and his wife, who was reported to be in her early 40s, died in the fire incident.
Also, four of their children, which included three boys and a girl with their age, ranging from 10-3 years, lost their lives in the fire outbreak.
However, one of their sons, who was about 13 years of age, out of a family of seven, escaped from the unfortunate incident.
Ibraheem stated that the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained at press time as the fire was suspected to have started about an hour before the fire service got the information.
He disclosed that the remains of the deceased persons were handed over to the men of A’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force.
