Gusau NBA Leader’s Murder: The Time to Act is Now – Mazi Osigwe SAN Charges Government
THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW!
The gruesome murder of our dear colleague and Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gusau Branch, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad Abubakar, today at his residence in Kotorkoshi town, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, is a tragic event and I condemn it.
Mr. Ahmad was a committed Bar Man, devoting a significant portion of his life to serving our fellow colleagues at the branch level. His untimely demise is a great loss to the legal community.
In this time of grief, my heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the deceased and members of the Gusau Branch. May Mr. Ahmad’s soul find eternal peace. May Allah, in His mercy, forgive any shortcomings he may have had and grant him a place in jannatul firdaus. Amin.
I call on the Zamfara State Government and the State’s security agencies to promptly and thoroughly investigate this heinous crime. It is crucial to ensure that those responsible for this savage act and many others are swiftly identified and brought to justice. Actions like this must have consequences and offenders must face the full force of the law.
It is believed the killing spree has continued unabated because there are no arrests, no serious investigations and nobody is ever seriously brought to book.
We call on the Government to arrest the situation, stop the killings and bring the perpetrators to book. Nothing but these will ensure the killings end and restore peoples’ confidence in the ability of the government to guarantee the security of their lives and property.
The killings have gone on unchecked for too long and must be stemmed. Law and order must be restored.
The time to act is now.
Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN
