NBA Legal Education Committee, Under The Distinguished Chairmanship Of Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN & His Secretary Auta Nyada Esq, Hold Its Inaugural Meeting

THE NBA LEGAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE, UNDER THE DISTINGUISHED CHAIRMANSHIP OF PROF. WAHAB EGBEWOLE SAN & HIS SECRETARY AUTA NYADA ESQ, HOLD ITS INAUGURAL MEETING.

We are delighted to inform you that the NBA Legal Education Committee, under the distinguished Chairmanship of Prof. WAHAB EGBEWOLE SAN, (The Vice Chanselor of University of Ilorin) held it’s formal Inaugural Meeting on the 28th of July 2023.

The Legal Education Committee decided to hold it’s formal inaugural meeting after holding several impactful meetings that has yielded plausible results.

As at press time the Secretary of the Committee Auta NYADA, stated that the inaugural meeting was successfully held on the 28th of July 2023, marking a significant milestone in the committee’s collective efforts to enhance legal education and professional development. Here is a brief summary of the key highlights from the meeting:

1. Attendance: The meeting witnessed an impressive turnout, with the D.G. Nigerian Law School making the list of attendees of the meeting, alongside lawyers from various backgrounds and experience levels participating actively. The diverse representation provided valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in legal education.

2. Opening Remarks: The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, who highlighted the purpose of the gathering and the importance of legal education in our evolving legal landscape. His motivational speech set a positive tone for the discussions.

3. Objectives and Agenda: The meeting’s objectives were outlined, emphasizing the need to foster collaboration, share best practices, and explore innovative methods to enhance legal education. The agenda covered a range of topics, which is believed will better the Legal Education process of Nigeria.

4. Interactive Discussions: Participants engaged in interactive and thought-provoking discussions, facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences. The diverse range of perspectives allowed for a comprehensive exploration of the challenges faced by legal education and the potential solutions.

6. Action Plan: Towards the end of the meeting, a collaborative action planning session was conducted to identify priority areas for further exploration and potential future initiatives. Participants expressed their commitment to continuing the momentum and actively contributing to the development of legal education.

7. Next Steps: The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap for future activities. The formation of Sub- Committees to address specific focus areas was announced, and participants were encouraged to volunteer their time and expertise.

The Committee appreciated the NBA President who created time out of his very tight and busy schedule to attend the meeting and inuagurate the committee. The NBA President thanked the committee for putting in so much hard work and sacrifice into the task put before it, and wished the committee well as they continue in this path.

All participants were commended for their contributions to the inaugural meeting especially their collective commitment to advancing legal education. The Committee emphasised the need to make a substantial impact on the quality and relevance of legal education in our professional community.
