Obosi Town Elects Barr. Chimezie Obi as New President General

The people of Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State has elected Barrister Chimezie Obi as the new President General of the Obosi Development Union (ODU), following the gruesome murder of the late Engr. Ikechukwu Okolo, the immediate past ODU President General.
The contest for the post of the ODU President General saw five contestants jostling to become the new ODU President General. They’re Barrister Chimezie Obi, Hon. Joel Mgbemena, Hon. Amala Ichu, Apostle Ichu, and Hon. Emeka Ejindu.
Barrister Chimezie Obi became the winner of the ODU President General Election with an astonishing runaway victory, garnering 106 votes while his closest rival, Emeka Ejindu got 27 votes.
Other members of the ODU executive were elected, and they would become the new secretary general, treasurer, financial secretary, social secretary, assistant social secretary, provost marshal, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president, 3rd vice president, legal advisers, and others.
Soon after Chimezie Obi esq was declared the ODU President General, he paid a visit and homage to the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka 111, for royal blessings and words of admonition.
The ODU general election , which was conducted by Obosi Electoral Commission, was chaired by Sir Dan Igbokwubili and supervised by a director from the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Tony Onyekomelu and representatives of ASATU.
Supporters of Barrister Chimezie Obi erupted into wild celebration, and thronged the streets of Obosi, dancing to the drum-beating of a cultural group and singing at the top of their voices.
The newly elected Obosi Development Union (ODU) President General, Barrister Chimezie Obi, promised to seek advice from well-informed and well-intentioned Obosi people before taking important decisions.
He also made a promise that he would revamp the education sector in Obosi as education is the cornerstone of societal development.
