NBA Holds Thanksgiving Service To Commence Annual Conference At Summit Bible Church In Abuja’s Kaura District
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is set to hold a Thanksgiving Service this Sunday, August 27, 2023, as part of its Annual General Conference preparations.
The special service will take place at 9 a.m. at the Summit Bible Church in the Kaura District of Abuja. It marks the start of the NBA’s major annual event that convenes legal practitioners nationwide.
NBA President, Yakubu Maikyau SAN, described the Thanksgiving Service as an opportunity for lawyers to come together in gratitude at the conference’s outset. “It is a moment for us to reflect on our purpose, strengthen our togetherness, and reconnect spiritually as a community of legal professionals,” he stated.
With over 5000 lawyers expected to attend, the NBA Conference is considered the largest gathering of lawyers in Africa. The week-long event features plenary sessions, technical sessions, and workshops that engage with pressing legal issues and policy matters.
Past keynote speakers have included vice presidents, state governors, chief justices, and attorneys general. This year’s conference, themed ‘Bold Transitions’, will focus on Nigeria’s political evolution and its implications for constitutionalism and the rule of law.
Maikyau emphasized the Thanksgiving Service’s significance in grounding discussions on Nigeria’s growth within spiritual introspection. “As lawyers, we must approach nation-building with gratitude, unity and a deep sense of purpose,” he affirmed.
The ceremony promises to inspire this mindset amongst attendees before deliberations on charting Nigeria’s future begin.
