NBA Medical Outreach: I am concerned about Motives, after reading rumor that NBA president was a beneficiary of a contract to provide hospital beds in a particular state – Bayo Akinlade Esq

Much Ado About The NBA -AGC Medical Outreach and Other Concerns Around Leadership Within the Legal Profession.
What I find interesting is the amount of publicity going into the provision of free medical services at the just concluded NBA AGC (what lawyers who *went to* Abuja gained) but hardly any publicity about the *free legal services* provided at the AGC (What the *community gained* from lawyers who went to the AGC)
Although I have since understood the basis for the medical outreach which the NBA president so passionately expressed as what he does on a normal day as his personal contribution to his immediate community and in his state of origin. But again I am concerned about motives, especially after reading somewhere the rumor that the NBA president was a beneficiary of a contract to provide hospital beds in a particular state….
Nonetheless, my interest will always lie in how we can best improve our justice delivery system and the professional welfare of lawyers. Because let’s face it, one of the things that causes our health to fail as lawyers and judges is because our working conditions and our practice generally has declined tremendously..this, in my view, is largely caused by bad leadership within the profession which includes the bench….
If only we can focus on what’s important… Not on yearly conferences, not on biannual election periods, not on who becomes a SAN or a Judge or who is appointed this or that…. we need to get back to what matters most in this profession otherwise we loose everything we hold dear.
We have become so good at complaining and irredeemably bad at solving problems in this profession, majoring on minors and celebrating mediocracy is our forte.
We have become so afraid of people who are selfless, instead of getting out of their way to serve, they put stumbling blocks and make it hard and painful for them to empower others.
The wicked will always want only the few to benefit, they hoard information and lock all the doors, keeping people locked inside poverty and ignorance. They care more about titles and positions more than being enablers and using their talents and treasure to make the world around them better.
Anyone who tells me that they can’t make a difference without holding a title or position is simply a fraud in my eyes.
What you do before and after holding titles is more relevant and lasting because titles and positions are just collapsible stages, to be dismantled after the show is over.
ARE YOU READY TO MAKE THIS PROFESSION BETTER?
