Heavy Security As Ondo Assembly Plans To Remove Deputy Governor

There is a heavy security presence at the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The presence of the security personnel, according to sources, was to allow the lawmakers to commence impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Sources said an emergency plenary session has been summoned by the House of Assembly.

Some politicians who spoke on anonymity said 23 out of 26 lawmakers have signed the impeachment notice against Aiyedatiwa.

It was gathered that Aiyedatiwa is being investigated for alleged gross misuse of office for allegedly approving the sum of N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof SUV for his personal use.

The money was said to have been approved when Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was still recuperating in Germany.

A source said Aiyedatiwa ordered the N300 million to be sourced from the palliative provided by the federal government to support poor citizens.
