Suspected herdsmen raid Benue communities, kill PPRO’s relatives

A total of seven people were said to have been murdered, among them three cousins of the Spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The onslaught was said to have happened at Tse Gamber in Sengev and Nagi, Mbachohon Council wards, all in the Gwer West local government area of Benue State.

Residents reported to our correspondent that communities were targeted by herdsmen in a swift and coordinated attack on Sunday.

A native who did not want to be mentioned said, “Four people were killed at Tse Gamber in Sengev Council ward, while three others were killed at Camp Nagi in Mbachohon Council ward, located along Naka-Agagbe road.”

Several people were reportedly injured in the attacks on the communities.

Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, said, “That is my village; three of my cousins were killed, and that is the total number.”
