DONALD TRUMP’S SISTER, MARYANNE TRUMP DIES AT 86
Former federal judge Maryanne Trump Barry, the older sister of former President Donald Trump, died Monday at the age of 86, according to multiple reports. She was found dead at her Manhattan home early Monday morning, two unnamed people familiar with the matter told reporters.
The cause of death has not been reported, but there were no signs of trauma or foul play, unnamed sources said. The former president has not yet commented on the death of his sister.
Barry was born in Queens, New York, in 1937. She graduated from Fordham University School of Law in 1962 and began her legal career as a clerk for U.S. District Judge Harold R. Medina.
In 1972, she was appointed to the New Jersey Superior Court by then-Governor William T. Cahill. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter appointed her to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. She was elevated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan.
Barry served on the Third Circuit for 41 years, making her the longest-serving judge in the court’s history. She was known for her tough demeanor and her conservative rulings. She retired from the bench in 2017.
Barry was a controversial figure. She was criticized for her handling of several high-profile cases, including the case of her brother, Donald Trump. In 2000, she recused herself from a case involving the Trump Organization after it was revealed that she had discussed the case with her brother.
Despite her controversies, Barry was a respected jurist. She was known for her intelligence, her work ethic, and her commitment to the law. She was also a role model for many women in the legal profession.
Barry’s death is a loss to the legal community and to the nation.
