Minister pledges new welfare package for paramilitary services
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, has promised to improve the welfare of personnel of paramilitary agencies, including seamless advancement and a new wage package.
Tunji-Ojo in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Alao Babatunde, on Thursday in Abuja, said the government had formed a committee to prevent career stagnation in the paramilitary services and guarantee that the promotion process was not evaded.
“We are working on the promotion exercise of personnel of all our paramilitary agencies, and in a couple of weeks, it will be out.
“We are doing this to bring the era of career stagnation to an end. People should enter the service with the anticipation that one day he or she can become the C-G.
“People should be able to earn their promotion as and when due without knowing anybody.”
The minister stated during the introduction of a new uniform for operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) that he would provide the paramilitary services with the necessary instruments to carry out their duties.
