Apapa-Ijora gridlocks: LASTMA impounds 78 illegally parked trucks

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said it has impounded another 78 illegally parked container-laden trucks on top of the High Bridge by Lilly Pond inward Apapa and Sifax axis of Ijora (Olopa).
LASTMA spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq in a statement said the enforcement operations was led by the General Manager, Bakare Oki Olalekan in conjunction with relevant security Agencies.
“The enforcement operations were carried out to ensure smooth/seamless traffic for Lagosians during the Christmas and New Year celebrations and beyond,” Taofiq said.
Taofiq also confirmed that the early Sunday morning enforcement operations lasted between 12 am to 7 am.
Olalekan said the enforcement operations will be continuous with zero tolerance to indiscriminate parking and impediments in the axis.
