Law school class ‘93 reunites, counts blessings
The Nigeria Law School Class of 1993 has reunited after 30 years to celebrate their achievements, and successes, and revisit memories.
Reflecting on the reunion, the newly elected chairman of the alumni group, Justice Tunde Bakre, expressed joy that many members of the class had reached enviable heights in the legal profession.
Justice Bakre said, “It is a huge privilege to be the first chairman of this group of eminent people, the NLS class of 1993. We have one Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, two Justices of the Appeal Court, 20 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, 14 High Court Judges, five professors of Law, a former governor, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, one Minister of Aviation and aerospace development of Nigeria, one President of the Nigeria Bar Association and captains of industries.
“It was a very lovely feeling to see everybody again after such a long time, and we can only just be grateful to God for where he has taken all of us, for sparing our lives. We must have lost in the region of 40 to 50 of us and for those of us that are alive, it’s been a huge privilege.”
On his part, the chairman, organising committee of the reunion, Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), stated that the purpose of the reunion was to be thankful for life and their achievements.
“The reunion was organised first to praise Allah for his grace over us. Thirty years is not a small number. Many of us had not seen each other since then,” he said.
Olagunju said the class visited the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus and “we received a wish list.”
“It (the wish list) had in it the construction of an industrial borehole, painting of the entire law school, and the construction of toilets and we will look into it,” he said.
