Adamawa Threatens Action Against Defaulting Contractors

Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmad Fintiri, has ordered Relia Building Construction Company handling Lamurde Cottage Hospital and Habitat Building Concept, constructing the Numan General Hospital to complete the projects or face the wrath of the law.

The governor who spoke through his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, during an inspection tour of the two project sites told the contractors yesterday to redouble their efforts and execute quality jobs according to specifications and time.
Farauta wondered why the 60-bed cottage hospital and staff quarters awarded before others across the state had not been completed.

“Government wonder why the Lamurde Cottage Hospital is still at the low pace of work. Some cottage hospitals were started after Lamurde and they have been commissioned.
“It is not acceptable anymore, that Lamurde Cottage Hospital project is crawling. This project has to be completed and it should be done now to avoid government’s action,” he warned.

At Numan General Hospital, she told the contractors that the state government would not tolerate any form of laxity that could undermine its estimated time lag for the completion of the paediatric, laboratory and theatre sections under construction.

In their separate responses, Egr Usman Ismail promised to complete the N279 million Lamurde Hospital within two months while Eng Yusuf Ahmad Gankuba attributed the delay in the Numan project to the fallout between the contractor and the first resident engineer.
