NDE trains 85 unemployed youths on vocational skills in Yobe
National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Thursday commenced orientation and life skill training for 85 unemployed youths on vocational skills Damaturu, Yobe state.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director-General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu-Fikpo, said the training was part of efforts to generate employment and wealth to unemployed youths in the state and the country as a whole.
Represented by the NDE Yobe state acting coordinator, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, Fikpo said, the 85 trainees were drawn 5 each from across the 17 LGAs of the state.
“The training would last for 3 month duration with intensive and proper monitoring.
“I called on you to utilise the opportunity to acquire economically viable skills that would enable you become self-reliant, and decongest the labour market, thereby reducing poverty and hunger,” he said.
Fikpo further revealed that the training which is under the community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) comprises training on barbing saloon, beauty therapy and satellite installation.
He said others are; fashion design, knitting, shoe and bags making, black smith and aluminium (Tinker) works among others.
Also speaking, the director, Vocational Skills Development (VSD) of the directorates, Alhaji Isa Audu represented by Bala Abdullahi from the NDE headquarters, charged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity given them to become employers of labour.
