Anambra re-run: Heavy security presence, as voters turnout in mass in Nnewi

Heavy security presence at the Model Primary School, Uruagu Ward 3, for the re-run of Nnewi South/South Ikwusigo Federal Constituency election of Anambra as voters turnout en mass.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday reports that the security agencies inlcuded  the Nigeria Army, Police and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

NAN observed that personnel of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) were also seen to check possibilities of any forms of vote buying which has post a threat to our democracy.

Mr John Igwe, Young Progressives Party (YPP) agent commended INEC for a peaceful conduct of the election.

Igwe said that the voting commenced early and described it as free, credible elections.

Mr Tony Imokiame, an agent of the Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), lauded the officials of INEC for arriving early for the election, saying that the process was going on well.

Imokiame also commended the electoral body for displaying fairness in the discharge of their duties.

A voter, Miss Precious Ikechukwu, said that the process was peaceful, adding that electoral materials arrived early.

NAN reports that following the Court of Appeal nullification of the initial elections in the affected polling units in the state, the INEC fixed Feb 3, for the re-run in  21 polling units.
