South Africa’s Tyla wins Grammys Best African Music Performance
South African artiste, Tyla, on Sunday, won the award for the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys.
The female sensation outshined Nigerian acts Davido, Asake and Burna Boy in the same category.
Tyla’s ‘Water’ saw off songs by Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ Asake’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush.’
The song, ‘Water’, made the top 10 across 16 countries including the UK and the US.
The award was presented at the 66th Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024.
