On 9th February 2024, we commemorate and celebrate a significant milestone as Henry Barnabas Ehi, distinguished legal practitioner and the immediate Past Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association Bwari Branch, fondly known as Cradle Bar, celebrates his 35th birthday. Rumours continue to swirl about his potential pursuit and aspiration to the office of the Assistant General Secretary adding an air of anticipation to the festivities!
Henry Barnabas Ehi: A Journey Unveiled
By birth and Origin, Henry has deep root and connection to places of rich cultural heritage and history in Nigeria. Born on the 9th of February in 1989, in the ancient city of Zaria, Kaduna State, Henry (as he is popularly called) hails from Edo State. He began his educational pursuit at Model Primary School, Kubwa, before proceeding to Government Secondary School, Karshi, where he earned his Senior Secondary Certificate. Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from the prestigious University of Benin in 2013, as required, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School as a prerequisite for admission to practice as a legal practitioner in Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2014 as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Currently, he is serving as a Partner at Maxon & Prime Legal where he leads the Dispute Resolution / Commercial Transaction Department, as he showcases expertise in Commercial Litigation, Family Law, Property Law, Debt Recovery, and Criminal Litigation. His commitment to justice and adept navigation of complex legal disputes have solidified his standing as a respected professional in these domains.
Beyond his private legal endeavors and as part of his contribution to the development of the Nigerian legal profession, Henry has played pivotal roles within the Nigerian Bar Association.
As the former Publicity Secretary at the NBA Bwari Branch, he led key innovative agenda that resulted in enhancing the image and positioning of the branch. His proficiency in communications and publicity strategies was again shown when he led the Media/Publicity Sub-Committee for the 2023 NBA-SBL Northern Zone Conference.
Henry’s dedication to professional development shines through his membership in esteemed bodies like the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), the National Institute of Public Relations, and the National Institute of Credit Administration. Currently, as the Head of Publicity for the National Welfare Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, he has being at the forefront of actively communicating the committee’s initiatives to the Nigerian legal community.
Recognizing his appreciation for literary skills, in a statement of confident celebration, an Essay Competition organized by the EASYREAD LEGAL group was named after him. This once again is a testament to the well rounded professional that Henry is. Henry is a thoroughly bred bar man, a friend of both young and senior lawyers.
As Henry steps into his 35th year, we celebrate his unwavering dedication to the legal profession, his promotion of innovative legal practices, and his role as a guardian of legal ethics.
