Shettima, govs, others storm Owo for Akeredolu’s funeral
Owo, the hometown of the late former Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on Friday hosted a multitude of prominent figures, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
Among those who also came to play their last respects to the late governor were the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, serving governors, former governors, senators, and ministers, among others.
The streets of Owo were lined with mourners and onlookers as the dignitaries from various states made their way to The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, venue of the funeral service.
The remains of Akeredolu was brought into the church at around 9:55 am with a guard of honour mounted by officers of the Amotekun Corps.
The late governor will be buried close to his Maranatha residence at the Government Reserved Area, GRA, Owo.
Akeredolu, until his death was the Chancellor of the Owo Anglican Diocese.
