Kogi: Gov Ododo vows he’ll capture, prosecute perpetrators of Ogbe killing
Governor Ahmed Ododo has vowed to bring to book the perpetrators of the Ogbe killing and guarantee security in the area.
Two persons were allegedly killed on Friday by bandits at Ogbe community in Yagba West LGA.
Information commissioner Kingsley Fanwo visited the community on Sunday on behalf of the governor. He commiserated with the people over the dastardly act. He assured them that the government would do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book and restore security in the area.
The governor assured the people that the state had all the forces required to tame criminality and defeat terror.
Mr Ododo urged the community to demonstrate confidence in his administration’s commitment to stamping out insecurity in the area and the state at large.
However, he admonished the community not to violate the law by launching reprisals and restated the government’s determination to pursue the perpetrators.
“President Bola Tinubu, through the Armed Forces and security agencies, is giving Kogi state all the necessary support to launch a holistic offensive on the agents of criminality.
“I assure you, Kogi will remain one of the safest states in the country,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the community, the former councillor of Ogbe Ward, Adeleke John, said, “It shows we have a governor who is responsive and responsible.
“We will not embark on any reprisal attack because we are not hopeless. We have confidence in the government to protect us.”
The commissioner was accompanied on the visit by Tosin Olokun, the Transition Committee chairman of Yagba West LGA, and Philip Orebiyi, a former member of the Kogi House of Assembly.
Mr Governor, we appreciate your efforts in tackling insecurity and securing our community but will be glad if you please use your good offices to construct the road from Egbe to Ogbe. Ogbe has suffered for too long with no dividends of democracy despite my repeatedly voting for APC. No Water, lack of manpower and necessary facility in the clinic are some of the major challenges faced by this community. It will be much appreciated if you could please assist the community in these areas. The major occupation of the resident is farming and farmlands, and products are destroyed daily by the herdsmen. His Excellency, OGBE needs help and we belief in your ability to help us.
