Miyetti Allah dissolves South East officials, appoints Gidado Anambra interim head
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has dissolved its elected executive committee members in all five states in the southeast region of the country.
According to MACBAN’s National Deputy Director-General and the Sarkin Fulani Awka, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, the dissolution followed the expiration of the tenures of all the state executive committees in Nigeria.
In a meeting it held in Enugu, during the weekend, Siddiki disclosed that the tenure of all state executives councils in Nigeria had elapsed on 27th February 2024, prompting the national executive led by President Baba Othman Ngelzarma to dissolve the state executives across the country.
“Today’s meeting is convened to inform our members of this decision and introduce the newly appointed caretaker committees to the public,” Siddiki said.
He further disclosed that he was appointed the interim head of MACBAN in Anambra State to conduct elections and fill leadership vacuum created by the expiration of tenures of the state chapters of MACBAN in South East states and in Nigeria.
Siddiki said that, MACBAN is an organization representing pastoralists engaged in legitimate cattle breeding and sales activities across all 36 states of Nigeria, adding that it operates democratically, conducting elections every four years to elect its leadership.
The caretaker committees that Siddiki disclosed will run the state chapters and conduct elections for the vacant positions include: Hassan Buba, Alhaji Magaj and Baba Mohammed for Abia State; Gidado Siddiki, Haruna Mohammed and Abdullah Mohammed for Anambra State; Haruna Sale, Ardo Ibrahim and Ardo Saidu for Enugu state; Ardo Baushe, Ardo Ibrahim Sani and Inusa for Ebonyi state; while Alhaji Dalo Mohammed, Ardo Bongel and Mohammed Haruna head Imo state.
“We reiterate our advisory to members to avoid actions that could jeopardize peaceful coexistence with our hosts, while emphasizing solidarity in combating threats to our collective security.
“We extend our gratitude to the government, traditional and spiritual leaders across the Southeast, for their continued support and recognition of our community. We also appreciate the timely response and assistance of security agencies including the police, army, DSS, and other security outfits in addressing our concerns,” Siddiki said.
