Face Your Court Cases And Stop Pursuing Shadows: Professionals For MODEN Tell Asue Ighodalo Campaign Organization
The Professionals for MODEN, a group supporting Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon Dennis Idahosa as the APC candidates for the Edo 2024 Governorship Elections, have called out the Asue Ighodalo Campaign Organisation for engaging in what they describe as “false propaganda” and “antics of drowning men.”
In a statement released today, the group accused the Ighodalo campaign of launching a smear campaign against Senator Okpebholo, whose popularity and acceptance among Edo people they claim is “soaring like lightning speed.” They attribute this alleged propaganda to the Ighodalo campaign’s fears over the negative publicity surrounding their candidate, who they say emerged from an invalidated primary process.
The Professionals for MODEN also dismissed the Ighodalo campaign’s allegations regarding Senator Okpebholo’s voter registration, stating that INEC, the custodian of the records, has not said otherwise. They accused the Ighodalo campaign of trying to make a “mountain out of a molehill” and of acting as “online court and judges” by giving “phantom verdicts” that exist only in their imaginations.
The group called on well-meaning Edolites to disregard what they termed the “rantings of ants” from these “online legal charlatans.” They emphasized that Senator Okpebholo and Hon Idahosa represent a “new Edo” that is rising, and that no amount of “phantom sophistry and cooked-up chicanery” can stop it.
The Professionals for MODEN also pledged their commitment to an Edo State government that respects traditional institutions, particularly the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, CFR. They accused their opponents of disrespecting traditional leaders and vowed to stand for the good of Benin City and other towns in Edo State.
The group concluded by rallying support for Senator Okpebholo and Hon Idahosa, stating that “Edo is now or never” and that they must win it or lose it forever. They called for an Edo State that prioritizes the progress and prosperity of its people.
The Asue Ighodalo Campaign Organisation has not yet responded to these allegations. As the Edo 2024 Governorship Elections approach, the political landscape in the state remains heated, with accusations and counter-accusations flying between the various camps.
