Failed Relationship Leads To Tragic Slaughter Of Rabi Auwalu, SSS Apprehends Ex-Boyfriend And Accomplice

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano State have arrested two suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a 20-year-old lady in the state.

The victim, Rabi Auwalu, was reportedly found to have been slaughtered with her arms tied behind her on June 26 in Bebeji town of the state, in what investigations have unraveled to be a crime of passion based on a failed relationship.

A family source, who asked not to be named, said the operatives of the DSS arrested the victim’s former boyfriend, Rabilu Hussaini and his friend, Kamalu Maikudi who was believed to have been conscripted to carry out the dastard act.

It was learnt that Rabi and Hussaini had been in a relationship for an unspecified period of time but Rabi recently ended the relationship, which led to some form of hostility between them.

The source said what they learnt was that the suspect called the victim on the day of the crime and asked to meet her at their usual meeting point with the promise that the meeting was targeted at resolving their issues and ending the hostility even if it meant the relationship was over.

The family source said Rabi was however later discovered to have been slaughtered with her hands tied behind her and her phone missing.

It was gathered that the phone was later tracked to and recovered from the former boyfriend, who has allegedly confessed to the crime.

However, when contacted, the Director of the DSS in Kano, Alhassan Muhammad, said he could not confirm the report and directed our reporter to the Service’ headquarters, who he said was the only appropriate authority to comment on activities of the Service.

An operative, however, confirmed that the two suspects were in the custody of the DSS in Kano after they were arrested in Bebeji based on intelligence and the tracking of the missing phone among others. The operative, who asked not to be named, said the DSS has concluded its investigation and would be handing over the suspects to the police on Wednesday or Thursday.
