#EndBadGovernance protests: DSS nabs sponsors, tailors making Russian flags in Kano, denies Lenin’s arrest
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrests some sponsors and tailors responsible for making Russian flags which are spreading across #EndBadGovernance protest grounds.
DSS Spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, in a statement on Monday night said: “The service has apprehended some tailors in Kano state responsible for making the Russian flags being distributed in the area.
“Some of their sponsors have also been picked. Investigations is ongoing.”
Blueprint reports that Russian flags had surfaced, Monday, across protest grounds as the #EndBadGovernance protest entered its 5th day.
Protesters wielding Russian flags were seen alongside others with placards bearing different inscription in some cities despite President Bola Tinubu’s warning against coup d’etat in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday.
Tinubu had warned the protesters not to allow “enemies of democracy” use them to overthrow his government, a statement which had sparked speculations on social media platforms regarding the “enemies of democracy.”
Russia, which is currently having a cold war with the West, has been fingered in coup d’etats in some West African countries including Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, among others.
Meanwhile, DSS has denied the arresting Coordinator of the Youths Rights Campaign, Michael Lenin.
There had been reports in the media alleging that the Service had arrested Lenin, who is one of the key leaders of #EndBadGovernance protests in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, confirmed Lenin’s arrest to the media on Monday morning, statimg that DSS operative arrested the youths rights campaign coordinator at midnight on Sunday in his Apo-Dutse residence in Abuja.
This is as he disclosed that lawyers were already making efforts to get the activists released from the custody of the service.
However, DSS Spokesperson in the statement declared that: “The DSS can confirm that Adaramoye Michael aka Michael Lenin is not in our custody.”
