Residents and people of Kebbi South Senatorial District and Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency of Kebbi State have petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), demanding a recall of their representatives in the National Assembly, Senator Garba Musa Maidoki and Hon. Garba Umar Uba, for their poor performance and neglect of their duties.

The petition seen by SaharaReporters, dated August 7, 2024 and addressed to the Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, was signed by over 90 voters/electorates of Yauri Local Government Area of the state.
The constituents, who noted that their petition was pursuant to sections 69 and 110 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), lamented that Maidoki and Umar Uba have failed to fulfill their duties and responsibilities to them.
According to the aggrieved constituents, despite being elected to advocate for their interests and improve their living conditions, the representatives have neglected their needs and concerns, stressing that they are suffering from severe neglect and abandonment, and that they are faced with deplorable conditions including bad roads, dilapidated schools, inadequate health facilities and displacements due to pervasive insecurity.
The petition read, “We, the undersigned registered voters/ electorates, formally and ruefully notify your esteemed office that we have lost faith, confidence, and trust in Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, and Honorable Garba Umar Uba, representing Yauri, Shanga, and Ngaski Federal Constituency.
“These representatives have failed to fulfill their duties and responsibilities to our constituencies. Despite being elected to advocate for our interests and improve our living conditions, they have neglected our needs and concerns.
“Our communities are suffering from severe neglect and abandonment. We face deplorable conditions such as bad roads, dilapidated schools, inadequate health facilities, and displacements due to pervasive insecurity.
“Regrettably, there has been no meaningful intervention or effort from Senator Maidoki and Honorable Uba to address these critical issues.
“Furthermore, the economic hardship in our constituency has intensified. People are dying from hunger, small-scale businesses are collapsing, the number of out-of-school children is rising rapidly, and insecurity has become the order of the day, creating an environment of fear and instability.
“As a sequel to the above, we find it expedient and necessary to write this petition, which reflects our collective decision to recall Senator Garba Musa Maidoki and Honorable Garba Umar Uba from their positions.
“We seek to replace them with representatives who genuinely care about our welfare, who are responsive to our needs, and are committed to serving our interests with integrity and dedication.
“We hope our petition will be given due consideration. Please accept our best regards as you continue to serve our dear motherland.”
