Army detonates unserviceable explosives in A’Ibom
The Nigerian Army, 6 Battalion Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, asked residents of the Abak Local Government Area of the state to stay off the designated area for the demolition of unserviceable ordinances.
It also urged them not to panic at the sound of the detonated explosives in an exercise which began on Monday.
In a Monday statement by the acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Adebowale Adejimi, on Monday, the army said the exercise would last till Thursday.
“The demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives is scheduled to take place at 6 Bn Range Area in Abak LGA, from 19 to 22 August 24.
“Consequently, the good people of Abak LGA are requested to stay off the designated exercise area. They are also requested not to panic at the sound of explosives.
“They are also to note that adequate measures have been put in place for safety and security at the range area and environs,” the statement said.
