We’ve not approved N70,000 as new minimum wage – Yobe

beThe Yobe State Government has said it has not issued any statement with regard to the approval of minimum wage.

Contrary to speculation, it said it is still working on it, and would provide a statement on it, as soon as it is completed.

Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe state Governor, Mamman Mohammed disclosed this on Thursday while reacting to he described as false and misleading post on the social media alleging approval of a new minimum wage in the state.

“The post failed to provide details nor indicate when and where the statement emanated, making the content professionally discredited.

“Similarly, Daily Trust newspaper has disowned the content, saying the logo used on the online post is not its logo, and the story could not be found on its website”, he said.

According to Mamman Mohammed, “It was grossly irresponsible, pre-emptive and misleading for anyone to unofficially speak, or post any statement for, or on behalf of the state government.”

He advised public to disregard the misleading post, saying they will be furnished with the official and credible statement from the government.
