Army eliminates notorious terrorist kingpin, Haliru Buzu, in Zamfara
The Nigerian Army announced on Friday that its troops had successfully eliminated a notorious terrorist kingpin, Haliru Buzu, and several of his fighters in a deliberate and coordinated offensive on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The operation took place in Mayanchi village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where the troops targeted the terrorists’ identified crossing point. Despite encountering fierce resistance, the troops overpowered the terrorists with their overwhelming firepower.
Following the firefight, the troops recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including:
– 2 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) guns
– 3 PKT guns
– 5 AK-47 rifles
– 479 rounds of PKT ammunition
– 366 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition
– 182 rounds of Machine Gun ammunition
– 1 RPG Bomb
– 29 AK-47 Magazines
– 30 Motorcycles
– 2 Android phones
– 2 Yeekee phones
The troops also destroyed the terrorists’ camp and are currently conducting further exploitation in the area. This successful operation marks a significant victory in the fight against terrorism in the region.
