NBA: Ikwuazom SAN moves to take over Abuja Branches, Sponsors Abuja Male and Female Lawyers Leagues with Bumper Prices
Lagos based Senior advocate of Nigeria and former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch, Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN has been unveiled as the headline sponsor of the Abuja Lawyers League 2023.
Ikwuazom, who is rumored as a Presidential hopeful for the Association’s next year’s National officers Election was unveiled as the Sporting competition’s Headline Sponsor at the unveiling ceremony held at the Conference room of MAHMUD MAGAJI SAN & CO(RAHUSA CHAMBERS) in Abuja. This competition is tagged CHUKWUKA IKWUAZOM (SAN) SUPER CUP 2023.
In a brief speech at the event, Ikwuazom stated that Lawyers often find themselves immersed in demanding schedules filled with long hours, tight deadlines and high-pressure situations. Engaging in sports can provide an effective means of alleviating stress and promoting overall well-being. Moreover, participating in sports can also help lawyers develop crucial skills that are essential for success in the legal field, and build stronger relationships with their colleagues.
The move, seen by many Lawyers as an attempt to sway the Abuja Lawyers in his favour for the next year national officers election, and break the stronghold of his rumored rival, Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, is the first time a prominent Lagos based lawyer is headlining the sponsorship of the Competition.
This year’s competition has seen a bumper improvement in the price money for the winners. The Male Lawyers League was increased from ₦250,000 ₦200,000 and #150,000 to ₦400,000 ₦300,000 200,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
An inaugural Female Lawyers league will also run concurrently with their Male League. As the inaugural league which the female won’t be paying registration fee, ₦200,000, ₦150,000 and ₦100,000 go to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The competition is scheduled to commence on the 4th of March 2023 and run till the 13th of May, 2023. 24 teams in the Male category are participating in this year’s competition while 6 teams are participating for the Female category.
