Benue, Bauchi, Gombe Residents Pay Highest Petrol Prices In August

Benue, Bauchi, and Gombe states paid the highest amount for premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, in August.

In the PMS report for last month, the NBS said the average petrol price was N830.46 per litre.

According to the bureau, the average retail price paid by consumers indicated a 32.51 percent increase compared to the N626.70 recorded in August 2023.

“Likewise, comparing the average price value with the previous month (.i.e. July 2024), the average retail price increased by 7.78% from N770.54,” NBS said.

On State profile analysis, Benue State had the highest average retail price for Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), at N941.24, Bauchi and Gombe States were next, with N935.71 and N925.00, respectively.”

On the other hand, NBS said Delta, Cross River, and Edo states had the lowest average retail prices for petrol, at N667.50, N672, and N676.25 respectively.

“Lastly, on the Zonal profile, the North-East Zone had the highest average retail price of N908.21, while the South-South Zone had the lowest price of N677.11,” the bureau said.
