October 1: Chinese govt felicitates Nigeria

The Chinese government has felicitated Nigeria on the occasion of its 64th independence, saying China will continue to support low-income earners in Nigeria.

This came as the People’s Republic of China also celebrated its 75th founding anniversary after Chinese President, Xi Jinping, and President Bola Tinubu signed several Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs, to strengthen bilateral relations.

Reaffirming Chinese commitment to making a difference, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Ms. Yan Yuqing, said: “We will continue to do more, the outstanding contributions made by overseas Chinese communities, groups and enterprises to the local economic and social development, and the loving and righteous deeds dedicated to improving people’s livelihood and helping the poor, such as the Renewed Hope, Rebirth from the Light Charity programme is remarkable.

“Our recent support on the anti-malaria campaign in Cross River State, has allowed the light of love from China to continue to shine into the hearts of the Nigerian people, shining the bright light of the love and lasting friendship between the Chinese and Nigerians.”

In his remarks, Dr Eric Ni stated the achievements of the Chinese Community in Nigeria just as he highlighted their contributions, including scholarships for students, support for orphanages, the construction of schools, and financial assistance for low-income earners.

Ni said: “I am happy we are doing this, this is a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and cultural exchange between China and Nigeria.

“Over the years, the Chinese community has worked tirelessly to empower and uplift low-income earners in Nigeria, while we have also awarded many scholarships to bright and deserving students across the country.

“These scholarships have enabled these students to pursue their dreams, unlock their full potential, and contribute to the future prosperity of Nigeria, let us continue to work together towards a future of shared prosperity, mutual respect, and cultural harmony.”

As Nigeria and China stand united in celebration and collaboration, these compassionate acts serve as a testament to the enduring friendship and shared prosperity between the two nations.

The future holds promise as they continue to work hand in hand towards mutual development and the greater good of their people.

This momentous occasion symbolises not just a celebration of milestones but a reaffirmation of the invaluable connections and cooperative spirit that define the relationship between China and Nigeria.
