Nigeria’s national grid shuts down 6th time in 2024
The national grid of Nigeria on Monday night shut down at zero level for the sixth time in 2024.
This was disclosed by various Distribution Companies (DISCOS) in a statement late in the night.
One of the companies revealed that the grid collapsed to 0.00GW around 6.30pm On Monday.
While giving update on the situation, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) told its customers that, “a general system collapse occurred at 18:48 hours today, 14th October 2024.
“Consequently, due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) also said, “Dear Valued Customer, Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 6:58 pm today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas.
“Rest assured, we are working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilised. Thank you for your understanding.”
