Kano CP orders round-the-clock patrols, crime prevention

The Kano State Police Command on Thursday convened a meeting with Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers.

In a press statement by the Command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the objective of the meeting was to re-strategise efforts on fulfilling the Nigeria Police Force’s constitutional mandate of protection of lives and property, as well as maintaining law and order.

During the meeting, the Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo, stressed the importance of proactive measures to prevent and respond to security threats.

The CP directed the command’s operational commanders to, “Enhance patrols: Increase visibility and presence in high-risk areas as well as to Intensify Intelligence Gathering.

“The CP’s other directives include information sharing as well as collaboration with communities, Improve Response Time, ensure swift response to distress calls and foster Community engagement, build trust and partnerships with stakeholders.”

According to the CP, these steps are crucial to maintaining law and order, preventing criminal activities, and ensuring the safety of all the inhabitants in the State.

“The Police Command will remain committed to the protection of lives and properties, as residents can rest assured that the Police are actively working to protect their safety and provide a conducive atmosphere for all economic and business activities to unfold.

Similarly, in July 2024, Dogo ordered round-the-clock patrols and effective traffic control to ensure public safety in the state as the rainy season set in.

The CP gave the directive during a meeting with Operational Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers in Kano.

He highlighted the security challenges associated with the rainy season and charged them to respond promptly to emergencies and distress calls.
