Abia PDP inaugurates new state working committee
A new Abia State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been inaugurated, following the administration of the oath of office on the newly elected officers.
The inauguration which took place at the party secretariat in Umuahia was conducted by the legal adviser of the party, Ukpai Ukairo, who administered an oath of allegiance to them.
Responding shortly after the swearing-in, the new state chairman of PDP, Abraham Amah, said that the new administration would usher in a new dawn for the party in the state by repositioning it to return to power in 2027.
Amah said the new team is bent on reclaiming power and disclosed their willingness to make the sacrifices that may come with it.
Amah, while unveiling their agenda for the party, said they would be unveiling a shadow government that would be saddled with the responsibility of holding the government in power accountable, adding that they would ensure the government delivers nothing short of good governance.
He equally disclosed that in the coming weeks, the party will institute its Elders Council, with Chief Onyema Ugochukwu leading the forum. He stressed the importance of all arms of the party being fully rejuvenated to recover their mandate of taking over power in 2027.
According to him, he has interfaced with a good number of people who exited the party and who have disclosed their willingness to rejoin the party. He added that those who contested against him have equally sent their messages of congratulations, which, he said, signifies a united party that is focused on a common goal.
Other members of the State Working Committee include Gabriel Elendu (Vice Chairman, Abia North), Patrick Onwuka (Vice Chairman, Abia Central) and Chinyere Onuoha, among others.
