Tinubu honours Ogoni Martyrs, commits to national reconciliation
Saro-Wiwa, along with the other activists, was executed in 1995 under the regime of former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, after being accused of involvement in the murders of local government officials.
The other executed martyrs included Saturday Dobee, Nordu Eawo, Daniel Gbooko, Paul Levera, Felix Nuate, Baribor Bera, Barinem Kiobel, and John Kpuine.
In a statement issued on Monday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to healing historical wounds and building a more united nation.
“The President reiterated that his administration will actively engage with past grievances and work towards fostering a united and prosperous country for future generations. This vision will be realized through dialogue, mutual respect, and inclusive policies,” the statement read.
