Hon. Leke Abejide Hails Tinubu as Nigeria’s Messiah, Predicts Economic Turnaround by 2026
Hon. Leke Abejide, the member of the House of Representatives for Yagba Federal Constituency, has described President Bola Tinubu as the “messiah” Nigeria needs to overcome its challenges. Speaking on Wednesday Abejide expressed strong faith in the administration’s ability to transform the nation’s fortunes.
He confidently stated, “By the time we get to 2026, they will see this country, and everybody will be praising the President. He is the messiah that Nigeria needs now, and he can fix Nigeria.”
The lawmaker criticized the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, blaming it for the nation’s economic decline, particularly pointing to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under Godwin Emefiele for printing excessive currency. He lamented that, towards the end of Buhari’s tenure, it was even difficult to obtain N1,000 due to the poor state of the economy.
Abejide, who is a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is optimistic that Tinubu will lead Nigeria out of its economic struggles. “Things are getting better. This exchange rate issue will be fixed with time. It is better we face reality than hide from it,” he said.
Regarding President Tinubu’s controversial tax reform bills, which have sparked debate, particularly among Northern Governors, Abejide expressed support. He explained that the reforms would reduce Nigeria’s borrowing burden and allow for better financing of infrastructure. “If you look at this tax bill and see the structuring, it shows that this level of borrowing in Nigeria will reduce in the near future,” he said.
