Sokoto State Clears Outstanding N460 Million Fees for Students at Integral University, India
sokotoThe management of Integral University, India, has confirmed the receipt of approximately N460 million from the Sokoto State government to settle the outstanding fees for state indigenes studying at the institution.
This announcement was made by the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Nadim Aktar, during a courtesy visit to the Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, and the students who had already graduated. Dr. Aktar explained that despite a two-year delay in payment of the tuition fees by the previous administration, the university had continued to retain the students, offering them education without interruption.
However, Dr. Nadim noted that the university could no longer sustain the students due to the growing financial burden and decided to approach the state government for assistance. He expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Aliyu for promptly settling the balance, ensuring that the students could complete their studies without further hindrance. He also thanked Deputy Governor Gobir for his role in facilitating the swift resolution of the matter.
In his remarks, Deputy Governor Gobir praised the academic achievements of the students, particularly highlighting the first-class honors earned by some of the graduates, which he described as a source of pride for the state. He also emphasized that the graduates had all studied health-related courses, which would help address the state’s need for qualified healthcare professionals.
Gobir further noted that the state government had also assisted Sokoto indigenes who were studying in Sudan but could no longer continue their education due to the ongoing conflict in the country. These students were relocated and enrolled in various institutions across Nigeria.
