President Tinubu Highlights Reforms Aimed at Building Lasting National Prosperity
President Bola Tinubu has reiterated that his administration’s reforms are essential to building lasting national wealth and prosperity for all Nigerians.
In remarks delivered by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Sunday at the 2024 Nigerian Media Merit Awards at the Muson Centre in Lagos, Tinubu emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to the nation’s development.
While acknowledging that opinions may differ on the specifics of tax reforms, the president affirmed there is broad national agreement on the need for a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.
“Our policies are deliberate and well thought-out,” Tinubu said. “We are headed toward the restoration of Nigeria, with a strategy that embraces economic diversification, human capital development, infrastructure growth, wealth creation, and inclusive prosperity.”
One of the administration’s key reforms, according to Tinubu, is the ongoing tax overhaul, which he described as one of the most significant steps toward securing Nigeria’s long-term prosperity. He noted that while the details of the tax reforms might be debated, there is general consensus that the current system requires reform.
