Supreme Court Mandates Online-Only Applications For Notaries Public From 2025
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced a shift in its application process for Notaries Public, marking another step toward digital transformation in the legal sector.
According to a Public Notice issued by Chief Registrar Hajo Sarki Bello, Esq., the Court will cease accepting manual applications for appointment as Notaries Public from December 15, 2024. Starting January 2025, all applications must be submitted through the online platform exclusively.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), through its National Publicity Secretary, Bridget Edokwe, Esq., has endorsed this digital transition, describing it as a commendable step in modernizing the legal profession’s processes.
Legal practitioners seeking appointment as Notaries Public are advised to prepare for this change and ensure compliance with the new digital submission requirements when they take effect in January 2025.
This development represents a significant modernization of the application process for Notaries Public in Nigeria, aligning with broader efforts to digitize legal procedures across the country.
