Gombe Governor Leads Condolence Visit to Jigawa, Offers Comfort After Tragic Deaths
Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has shared the tragic news of the death of his son, Abdulwahab, and mother, Hajiya Maryam, who both passed away within a week of each other. His son died in a road accident just a day after his mother succumbed to an illness.
The news has shaken the governor, who noted that the loss came shortly after he had celebrated the marriage of his daughter, Fatiha. A week before the tragic events, Governor Namadi had given his daughter’s hand in marriage, a moment of joy that was quickly overshadowed by grief.
In a show of solidarity, Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Yahaya, led a delegation to Kafin Hausa town in Jigawa to offer condolences. Yahaya, who had attended the wedding just days prior, expressed his heartfelt sympathy to Governor Namadi.
Governor Namadi thanked Yahaya for his constant support, especially during this difficult period. “Your Excellency, just a week ago, you were in Jigawa State to attend my daughter’s wedding, Fatiha, and now you are here again to sympathise with us over the tragic losses of our mother and son. This demonstrates your love for us and exceptional leadership style. We cannot thank you enough,” Namadi said.
During his visit, Yahaya comforted Namadi by reminding him of the importance of patience and faith in Allah. He described the tragic events as an extraordinary test of faith and encouraged the governor to embrace Allah’s will. “What Allah takes belongs to Him, and what He gives is also His, for everything occurs at its appointed time according to His will,” Yahaya said.
On behalf of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and the people of Gombe, Yahaya extended his condolences and prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the deceased. “May Allah forgive their souls and grant them Aljannat Firdaus,” he concluded.
