The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has officially confirmed that the 2025 local government elections will be held across all 20 local government areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi addressed the recent media speculations surrounding the status of the LCDAs, clarifying that elections will proceed as planned in both the LGAs and the LCDAs.
Ojelabi remarked, “Recently, there have been numerous questions and concerns from the media, party members, and stakeholders regarding the upcoming local government elections, especially about the LCDAs. It is important to clear the air on this matter and put an end to any unnecessary distractions.”
The APC chairman emphasized the significance of both the LGAs and LCDAs, underscoring their vital role in the development of the state. He pointed out that the LCDAs have made important contributions to infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other public services at the grassroots level.
“Our position is clear. The LCDAs are essential to the political and socio-economic growth of the state. They’ve made significant strides in areas like road construction, market building, drainage systems, healthcare facilities, and other public services,” Ojelabi added.
