Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have apprehended a 25-year-old woman, Shamsiyya (surname withheld), suspected of being an ammunition courier for terrorists. The arrest occurred on December 28 in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area, Zamfara State. She was detained alongside her accomplice, a motorcyclist named Ahmed (surname withheld).
According to a statement from Lieutenant-Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Shamsiyya was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines. The ammunition was intended for delivery to the camp of infamous terrorist leader Bello Turji.
The arrest followed an intelligence report that alerted troops to the movement of terrorist logistics along the route from Kware to Badarawa. In response, the military set up a roadblock, leading to the successful apprehension of the suspects.
Both individuals are currently under investigation by the appropriate authorities. The military reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and preventing the illegal movement of weapons in the region.
The statement also encouraged the public to continue providing reliable information that could assist in the capture of terrorists and their collaborators, while thanking local communities for their support in the ongoing operation.
