The Warri Refining and Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) has officially resumed operations, with a capacity of processing 125,000 barrels per day. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), made the announcement during a facility tour on Monday.
This milestone comes just a month after the successful rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery in Rivers State. During the tour, Kyari highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve the refinery’s operations, stating, “This plant is running. Although it is not 100 percent complete, we are still in the process.”
He further emphasized the importance of this development, remarking, “Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real.” The reopening of the Warri refinery marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s refining sector and its efforts to enhance domestic fuel production.
