President Tinubu’s Landmark Approval: Southern Kaduna to Benefit from Federal University and Medical Centre
In a significant move aimed at boosting development in Southern Kaduna, President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the establishment of a federal university in the region. Vice President Kashim Shettima, who shared this news during a visit to the Kukah family, also revealed that discussions are underway for a Federal Medical Centre to be built in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The Vice President made these announcements while offering his condolences to the Kukah family following the passing of His Highness Yohanna Sidi Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom, and a relative of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto. Shettima emphasized the commitment of the Tinubu administration to Southern Kaduna’s growth, citing the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as an example of the administration’s focus on the region’s security needs.
“President Tinubu is dedicated to the well-being of the people of Southern Kaduna and Kaduna State as a whole,” Shettima stated, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve the region’s infrastructure, particularly road development. He also praised Governor Uba Sani for his inclusive leadership style and reiterated that the Federal Government will work closely with the state to bring about significant improvements.
On behalf of the Kukah family, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah expressed gratitude for the Vice President’s visit, acknowledging the challenges of the region’s infrastructure. “It took you over three hours to reach us because the roads are in poor condition. We are honored to have you as a friend of this community,” said the Bishop.
This announcement marks a major step towards the transformation of Southern Kaduna, with federal projects set to enhance the educational and healthcare systems, alongside ongoing efforts to address infrastructural challenges.
