IPAC: Only God’s Grace Enabled Nigerians to Survive 2024, Challenges Ahead

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has expressed gratitude to God for guiding Nigerians through the socio-economic challenges of 2024, highlighting that the country’s survival in the past year was only by divine grace. In its New Year’s statement, the Council called on the Nigerian government to focus more intensely on key issues such as improving security, tackling corruption, boosting the economy, ensuring food security, and providing social amenities in 2025.

IPAC acknowledged the significant challenges facing the country but urged citizens to remain vigilant, united, and proactive in holding government officials accountable. The Council also emphasized the importance of deepening Nigeria’s democracy to create a nation future generations can be proud of.

“We are grateful to God for His mercies, protection, and care, which have reinforced our hope and faith in consolidating our democracy and building a strong, united, stable, progressive, equitable, prosperous, and just society in 2025,” said Yusuf Dantalle, IPAC’s National Chairman. The statement further noted that Nigerians’ resilience, resourcefulness, and sacrifices since independence should never be taken for granted by elected officials.

With the approach of 2025, IPAC sees it as an opportunity to reflect on both successes and failures of the past year and to rededicate efforts to making Nigeria a great nation once again. The Council highlighted that the challenges ahead are substantial, but so are the opportunities if the nation continues to nurture its democracy.

“We urge Nigerians to remain prayerful, proactive, and committed to holding leaders accountable. The price for freedom and prosperity is eternal vigilance,” Dantalle emphasized.

As the umbrella body for all registered political parties in Nigeria, IPAC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting good governance and citizens’ well-being. The Council also outlined its focus for 2025, which includes the implementation of its Peer Review Mechanism to assess governors’ progress on sustainable development goals, monitor legislators’ effectiveness, and track the impact of financial autonomy granted to local governments.

Additionally, IPAC announced efforts to eliminate candidates with questionable credentials from the electoral process, ensuring that all documents and credentials undergo thorough verification to maintain the integrity of elections and prevent fraudulent victories.

In conclusion, IPAC stressed the importance of collective responsibility in rebuilding trust in Nigeria’s democratic process. The Council called for focused efforts in areas such as fighting corruption, securing political stability, conducting credible elections, and improving public services, including education, healthcare, and power supply, as the country heads into 2025.
