Akume Reaffirms Tinubu’s Commitment to Delivering Democracy Dividends to Nigerians
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to providing more democracy dividends to the people of Nigeria. Akume made this statement during a thanksgiving service held in honor of Mathias Byuan, the Executive Director of Housing, Finance, and Account at the Federal Housing Authority. The service took place in Agidi, Ugambe, Shangev Tiev, in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
Akume emphasized the ongoing projects under the current administration, noting that several initiatives are underway in Benue State, including the dualization of the Makurdi/Ninth Mile road. He encouraged youths in the state not to allow themselves to be manipulated by the political class, urging them to always demand accountability from their leaders.
“The present administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to the well-being of Nigerians, which is why there are ongoing projects across the country,” Akume said. He also highlighted that false narratives circulating in the state should not deter young people from seeking transparency and accountability in governance.
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, who spoke at the event, praised Akume as a respected leader and father figure. Ortom emphasized that politics is a game of interest and focused on the importance of delivering democracy’s dividends to the people. He thanked President Tinubu for appointing Benue’s sons and daughters to key positions in his administration.
The Chairman of the occasion, Jacob Gyado, referred to Akume as the “emancipator” and “political compass” of Benue State. Gyado urged the people to rally around Akume and support President Tinubu’s success. He also commended Byuan for his dedication to strengthening the APC in the state.
In his remarks, Byuan expressed gratitude to the President and Akume for their leadership and commitment to the state. He announced the launch of the Mathias Byuan Community Empowerment Foundation, aimed at supporting the less privileged in the state. Byuan also acknowledged the substantial allocations the state has received from the federal government and called on the Alia-led administration to fulfill its responsibility in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
In his homily, Bishop Isaac Dugu of the Katsina-Ala Diocese encouraged Christians to embrace love and sustained prayer, especially within the family. He stressed that prayer is a powerful force, more potent than any weapon, and urged continued prayers for strong, nurturing mothers.
